    • Tony Alamo, Ted Haggard, Terry Hornbuckle, Gilbert Deya, Jim Bakker (who’s quoted at the start), Douglas Goodman: just a handful of real-life disgraced pastors of mega-churches whose crimes ranged from drug abuse to child abuse and several other non-Christian activities, not to mention hypocrisy (though some might argue the latter is typical Christian behaviour). Then there’s the Catholic Church and its centuries of hidden crimes for which priests and nuns were shielded by the power of the P [...]

    • I really enjoyed Think Tank so wanted to give Mr. Hawkins' other work a chance. I am hesitant to give this a star rating as it really is too early in the story for me to rate it accurately but overall maybe 2.5 stars so i'll give it a three for the moment. That will probably change once the first arc is over which is why I hesitate on grading single issues. This is the first issue which is the set up and introduction of the characters. Basically the story is going to be a mix of religious agenda [...]

    • After listening to "Overdue Podcast's" episode on "Preacher," I decided to skip that book in favor of The Tithe. This was a smart choice. The Tithe has everything I want in a comic book: action, a moral compass, a female protagonist (who is a hacker, no less). Although Hawkins makes clear at the end of the book that he's an atheist, this isn't a critique of religion per se. It's more of a critique about the ways that religion is used and abused by people in positions of power. I'm looking forwar [...]

    • This isn't something I expected to enjoy so much in comic form. It reminds me more of a TV show or movie, just from the plot. However, this works. A group is robbing churches, but only churches that are lying to their congregations about where the funds are being appropriated. The only part that bothers me is this "reveal" of the person talking to the detective like seeing her face is somehow going to be shocking. If it showed everyone in on it in a big panel I'd think they were doing it to fit [...]

    • This popped up in one of the FB groups I'm a part of so I figured I'd give it a quick read (topcow/files/TI001_loreade). I'm not sure how to rate the single issue - I'm curious as to where it goes but with many (or most) comics I read, I can't really judge it based on the setup. It's a curiosity, I suppose.

    • I think I've decided I'm a fan of Matt Hawkins this one has a strong message and great characters well worth the read. My only complaint was it was too short (took only about 45 minutes to read)

    • Allright, I'll bite. Stealing from corrupt churches that steal from the public, our team of investigators versus the bad guys who are just being good "Samaritans." Let's see what's next

    • This was an interesting take on going "Robin Hood" on corrupt churches. More happened here than I was expecting and it works.
